The short version

The names you enter never leave your device. This site does not have accounts and does not ask for personal details.

Names and settings

The list of names, race length, number of winners and sound preference are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device so they are still there next time you visit. They are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. Pressing Clear list, or clearing your browser data, deletes them.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data needed to deliver the page (such as your IP address) and may keep short-lived logs for security and performance. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that processing.

Usage counts

To learn whether the tool is actually useful, the page sends a tiny anonymous signal when a page is opened, a race is started or finished, fullscreen is used, or the classroom-pack link is clicked. Each signal contains only the event name, whether this browser has used the tool before (a flag stored in your browser's local storage), and — for the page-open signal only — which kind of site sent you here, as a single word such as “search engine”, “reddit” or “direct”. We never record the full address you came from. We store just a daily count per event. We do not store IP addresses, browser details, cookies, or any of your names. There are no third-party analytics scripts.

Advertising

The site currently shows no advertising. If we introduce adverts (for example through Google AdSense), visitors in the UK and European Economic Area will be shown a consent banner before any advertising cookies are set, in line with UK GDPR and the ePrivacy rules, and this policy will be updated to describe the cookies used.

Children

The tool is intended for adults — teachers, hosts and organisers — to use in front of a group. It does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
